As an abstract artist, I enjoy the challenge of expressing dynamic symmetry theory in various ways, reflecting its core principles of fluid balance, scale-dependent patterns, and emergent order.
Here is some of the artwork that I am working on:
I am creating a series of large-scale paintings and digital artworks incorporating fractal patterns. These start with chaotic, seemingly random elements at the micro-level, gradually revealing more ordered structures as the viewer steps back or zooms out. This visually represents the scale-dependent nature of dynamic symmetry.
I am also designing a series of canvases that transition from highly chaotic, abstract forms on one end to more structured, geometric shapes on the other. The middle canvases represent the "edge of chaos”, showing a delicate balance between order and disorder. Colour gradients are used to enhance this transition.
‘Subjectivity’ is an interactive digital artwork where viewers can manipulate parameters that shift the balance between order and chaos. This involves particle systems that respond to user input, demonstrating how small changes can lead to emergent patterns.
It is hoped that these artistic expressions not only visualise the concepts of dynamic symmetry but also engage viewers in contemplating the nature of complexity, scale, and the emergence of order from apparent randomness.
